Chakwera lied, Nthakomwa says the plane was found on June 10

Date:

Moses Nthakomwa, an associate of the late Vice President Saulos Chilima has told the Parliamentary Committee investigating the Chikangawa plane crash that the retired Major General John Msonthi called him at about 8:19 p.m. on June 10, 2024 offering condolences for the loss of his friend.

He further said that Msonthi told him detailed information about the aircraft’s fate hours before former President Lazarus Chakwera officially announced the tragedy.
Chakwera officially made an announcement in the morning of June 11.

“I don’t want to share our discussion with anyone because I was doubting it as government insisted that they are still searching for the plane.

“I later confirmed the details when one of the security officers explained in detail about the crash, and I didn’t know why the President lied, or took time to confirm it,” he said

The committee is also expected to hear evidence later today from Wilson Chima, Head Driver in the Office of the Vice President; Edna Muluzi, daughter of the late Shanil Dzimbiri; and Ben Michael Mankhamba and Argentina Malamulo, both nephews of the late Shanil Dzimbiri.
