Member of Parliament (MP) for Thyolo Central Constituency Ben Phiri on Friday handed over a donation of four computers and inspected the construction of a school block at Nachipere Primary in the area.
Writing on his Facebook page, Phiri said that both the donation and the school block have been funded by a former student at the school, Duncan Chalulu, who is now based in the United States of America.
“Friday 17th January, 2025 was a very busy day for me as a representative of the people of Thyolo Central Constituency. My first assignment was at Nachipere Primary School where I officially handed over a donation of 4 computers to the school. The donation was made by a great son of Thyolo and former student at the school Mr. Duncan Chalulu who is now based in the United States of America.
“At the school I also inspected the construction of a school block funded by the same great Son Mr. Chalulu. I am glad to work with anyone who is willing to uplift the lives of the people in our Area. Thank you my brother and friend Duncan Chalulu.
“Later in the day, I inspected construction of staff houses at the site where Press Trust is constructing a Health Centre at Namileme. I am glad that as a community we have done our part to compliment of the project by Press Trust. I also visited the Mpando Health Post project site. I am happy to report that the project is in its final stages and the Health Post will be opened to the public soon.
“My last visit was to the District Council building project. I am happy that after 6 years since its commencement, the project is coming to an end. This project which we launched in 2019 will ease the problem of office space for the Council and other government agencies in Thyolo. Although there has been delays to finish the project, including the Thyolo stadium project, I am happy that the vision Arthur Peter Mutharika had in 2018 and commenced in 2019 has come to fruition.
“As we return to proven leadership of APM and the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) in September, we look forward to more Chitukuko, Chitetezo, Chilungamo,” he said
