Human Rights activist, who established himself as one of the fierce critics of President Lazarus Chakwera’s leadership, Redson Munlo has joined Malawi Congress Party (MCP).
In a statement dated 5th August 2024, which has been signed by Munlo himself.
Munlo started by clarifying that his previous criticisms were not directed at Chakwera as a person, but rather at the polices that were adopted.
He said his intention was to encourage the president to change the policy direction and formulate strategies that are more feasible for implementation.
According to Munlo, the critics were essential to ensure that Malawi moves forward in alignment with the president’s vision, especially as the nation witness significant progress in infrastructure development under his leadership.
Munlo he was influenced to make the decision after being impressed by Chakwera’s leadership style.
“His focus on tackling real issues rather than getting caught up in petty dispute. His commitment to addressing the pressing challenges that affect our nation resonates deeply with my own desire for effective governance and a transformative approach to policy-making,” he said
Munlo further said the Malawi Congress Party stands out as a beacon of hope, free from the shackles of family politics that have long plagued Malawi’s political system.
Meanwhile, Munlo denies being in MCP because of any connection or any involvement of someone, saying he is mature enough to make his own choices.
