Wimbe United missed the chance to close gap to leaders Extreme FC after playing out a goalless draw with Luanar FC on Wednesday K15.5million Chipiku Premier Division League.
Wimbe had a chance to catch Extreme FC on 15 points but their home draw move them to 13 points as they trail leaders Extreme with two points.
Both Extreme FC and Wimbe United have two games remaining on their fixtures.
At the Blue Gym in Lilongwe Silver Strikers Reserve have boosted their chances of winning this year’s Chipiku Premier Division League after their 1-0 victory over Mbabzi United.
A first half strike from Madalitso Maso who scored from spot ensured maximum points for the Young Bankers.
The result means Silver Strikers Reserves remains on 3rd with 12 points, three behind leaders Extreme FC while Mbabzi stays second from the bottom with just six points.
After the match Silver Strikers Reserve coach MacDonald Yobe hailed his side for a hard fought victory.
“It’s always difficult facing Mbabzi United but am happy that we have managed to win this match” said Yobe
On of Mbabzi United officials Vincent Malizani was happy for his team’s performance despite a loss.
“They scored through a penalty, we pushed for an equaliser but we failed, all in all it was a very good performance from my players” said Malizani
