Mighty Mukuru Wanderers has climbed up to the summit of the 2023 TNM Super League standings following their 1-0 victory over MAFCO FC at Kamuzu Stadium on Sunday.

Gaddie Chirwa was on target eight minutes into the second half to hand his team a victory.

Wanderers coach Mark Harrison described the games a difficult one.

“It was difficult, it was not an easy one we wasted some chances second half we could win it by a wider margin if we converted chances we missed but anyway three points against a side which made life difficult for us, iam happy with the victory” said Harrison

His counterpart Prichard Mwansa whose team dropped to second from bottom this weekend was furious with the officiation.

“The referee wanted Wanderers to win this match, we are returning home winless due to officiation which is painful and forsure we are not developing our football with such biased officiation”, said Mwansa

Mighty Mukuru Wanderers surpassed Chitipa United who stayed on top of the table for just 24 hours after their 1-0 win on Saturday against Ekwendeni Hammers.

It has taken three months and eight days for Wanderers to assume the summit of the Super League table.

The Nomads are sitting at the top of table, level on 36 points with Chitipa United, after playing 19 games each.

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets who dropped to second after Saturday’s Chitipa United win have fallen again to third as they trail leaders with two points after playing 17 games.

In other matches, Dedza Dynamos beat Red Lions 2-0 at Dedza Stadium courtesy of Ibrahim Sadick’s penalty in the second half and Clement Nyondo’s strike.

And at Rumphi Stadium, Bangwe All Stars came from a goal down to false a 1-1 draw with Moyale Barracks.

Gastin Simkonda was the first to score on 36 minutes but the visitors equalized with four minutes to wind up the match through new signing Kondwani Chelembwe who scored from the spot.
