Nyasa Big Bullets lost against Mighty Mukuru Wanderers in the Airtel Top 8 final on penalties after a penalty shootout decided a goalless affair in normal time.
The People’s team were stronger in the opening half but the Nomads managed to work themselves into the game for the rest of the second half.
The first half of the match produced only two shots on target one from each team. Babatunde Adepoju could have put Bullets ahead just after six minutes but his shot from the edge of the box was well saved by Wanderers goalie Richard Chipuwa.
The Nomads again had their best opportunity after 15 minutes but we’ll charged Richard Chimbamba in goals for the People’s Team made a brilliant save to deny Francis Mkonda to head home.
Likewise the first half, the game failed to create more scoring chances despite Wanderers taking over the control of the match.
Substitute Hassan Kajoke came crosser to break the deadlock on 55 minutes but his header was cleared on the line by defender Peter Cholopi when the goalkeeper was already beaten.
Five minutes later, Wanderers winger Isaac Kaliati sent a powerful shot from outside the box into the palms of Richard Chimbamba.
From one hour mark the game became sloppy with more stoppages due to fouls and injuries but the Nomads came again inside three added time giving Bullets more pressure but it yielded nothing as the referee Godfrey Nkhakananga blew the final whistle to call for penalties.
The Nomads scored through Peter Cholopi, Stanley Sanudi, Vincent Nyangulu, Miracle Gabeya and Francis Mkonda.
As for Bullets they relayed on Yamikan Fodya, Hassan Kajoke and Babatunde Adepoju while Kesten Simbi sent his spot kick over the bar.
The Nomads have won it for the first time since it’s establishment denying Bullets a treble of trophies having won FDH Bank Cup and TNM Super League.
