Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has fined Mighty Mukuru Wanderers K2.5 million after they pleaded guilty on two charges following events that occured during the FDH Bank Cup round of 16 against Dedza Dynamos Salima Sugar.

According to a letter signed by FAM General Secretary Alfred Gunda, the Nomads committed the offenses on August 7, 2022 at Dedza Stadium.

On the first offense of displaying strange behavior and tempering with the pitch and the dressing room, FAM has fined Nomads K500, 000 while on the second offense of bringing the game of football into disrepute they have been ordered to pay a K2 million fine, of which K1.5 million is suspended for a period of six months.

They were charged for displaying strange behaviour and tampering with the pitch and thedressing room area due to juju beliefs contrary to Article 24.9 of the 2022 FDH Bank Cup Rules and Regulations by urinating on the pitch upon arrival at the stadium and poured urine around the dressing room area, bringing the game of football into disrepute contrary to Article 67 of the FAM Disciplinary Code by failing to control their players from engaging in improper conduct as per Count 1 above and their actions brought the game of football, FAM and name of the sponsor into disrepute.

Meanwhile, the Nomads have been given 48 hours upon the receipt of the charge to respond.

Elsewhere, FAM has also charged Nyasa Big Bullets Reserve for two offenses they committed during FDH Bank Cup Match against Blue Eagles.

Bullets Reserves have been summoned for inciting violence contrary to Article 24.18 of the FDH Bank Cup Rules and regulations while the other offense is bringing the game of football into disrepute.
