survival of the fittest

The contest among bottom teams gets stiffer each week as changes have emerged after this week’s games.

Blue Eagles’ helped them to climb out of the relegation zone as they move from 15th to 12th while MAFCO’s defeat to Mighty Mukuru Wanderers saw them dropping down to the relegation zone as they occupy 14 position from 13th last week.

Red Lions too have also fallen a step down within the relegation zone from 14th to 15th.

The battle for the safer zone remains tight for eight teams as the gap between 15th placed Red Lions and ninth placed Civil Service United is just six points.

*3 months and eight days to assume top spot

Mighty Mukuru Wanderers returned to the summit of the log table following their victory over MAFCO FC on Sunday at Kamuzu Stadium.

Gaddie Chirwa scored the only goal of the match fo help his team usurp Chitipa United who stayed on top for just 24 hours after moving there on Saturday thanks to their 1-0 win over Ekwendeni Hammers.

They have now opened a 2 point gap over third placed FCB Nyasa Big Bullets who have two games in hand.

Nyondo’s show

Dedza Dynamos striker Clement Nyondo again showed why he is such a special goalscorer when he netted the second goal for his team when they defeated Red Lions 2-0 at Dedza Stadium.

Nyondo’s strike helped him to take his tally to 13 goals while his closest contender Lanjesi Nkhoma is stuck at 9 goals.

Eagles back to winning ways

Blue Eagles Football Club ended a 7 game winless run as they came from behind to beat Mighty Wakawaka Tigers 3-1 at Nankhaka Stadium on Saturday.

Eagles winger Richard Lapson cancelled out a Precious Chipungu’s early goal for Tigers before taking the lead in the second half through Steven Banda. Chikondi Mvula sealed the victory for the hosts with the third goal of the match.

Before this win, Blue Eagles had gone seven League games without a win as their last victory was registered back on 24th June when they defeated MAFCO FC at Chitowe Stadium.

officiation at fault yet again

Issues of officiation has become weekly song for coaches as this continued this weekend.

There was tension after the match that ended 0-0 between Silver Strikers Strikers and Extreme FC at Bingu National Stadium when some team officials wanted to deal with referee Pilate Chibengeri who was incharge of the match.

Another match which team officials showed discontent with referees was Sundays encounter between Mighty Mukuru Wanderers and MAFCO FC.

After that match MAFCO coach faulted the officiation for his team’s 1-0 defeat.

And at Dedza Stadium was assistant coach for Red Lions Chifundo Masapula who criticized men in black for what he believes it costed his team points.
