Malawi’s pioneering mobile network company TNM, has rekindled its partnership with the Association of Business Journalists (ABJ) by contributing K3 million towards the body’s elective Annual Lakeshore Conference next month.

Presenting the contribution on Thursday in Lilongwe, TNM Director of Sales & Distribution Mabvuto Zungu said: “At TNM we recognize the critical role that business journalism plays in shaping our economy and promoting transparency. This is why we’re proud to invest K3 million to support the association’s AGM, a contribution that demonstrates our dedication to fostering a well-informed and engaged business community.”

Zungu also emphasized the strong partnership between TNM and the media in promoting access to information on the economy and ICT with different stakeholders.

“At TNM, we highly value our long-term relationship with the local media because they serve as a crucial platform for our communications with customers and other key stakeholders,” he said.

Reflecting on ABJ’s journey, Zungu expressed satisfaction with the progress made since the association’s launch.

“TNM was among the first companies in Malawi to support ABJ when it was established in the late 2000s. Over the years, we’ve continued to back ABJ’s efforts to advance business journalism and we are glad to see that the vision of ABJ’s founding journalists continues to thrive and shines brighter each year,” remarked Mzungu

Coordinator for the Association of Business Journalists, Enelles Nyale said the donation is t a testament to TNM’s unwavering commitment to the growth and development of journalism in Malawi.

“The Annual General Meeting is a very important event for us. It is a time for us to reflect on our achievements, discuss challenges, and strategize for the future through an election that we will have. TNM’s donation will go a long way in ensuring that this meeting is a success.

“It will help us create an environment where we can exchange ideas, learn from each other, and chart a path forward that will enhance the quality of business journalism in Malawi. We are deeply appreciative of TNM’s belief in our mission and your willingness to invest in our future. This partnership underscores the importance of collaboration between the corporate sector and the media in fostering a well-informed society,” she said
