Emmanuel University has made a remarkable difference in the lives of special needs students by supplying essential mobility aids.

The university donated wheelchairs to Chiuzira Primary in Lilongwe, as well as Mkomera and Gundadzuwa Primary Schools in Dedza.

Moreover, a girl at Linthipe Primary in Dedza received custom-made shoes, enabling her to attend school comfortably despite the significant distances she must travel.

“We are deeply thankful for Emmanuel University’s continuous support,” said Magret Masiye, mother of Julie, a special needs student at Gundadzuwa Primary School.

Jeffrey Maganga, Coordinator of the Women Empowerment and Special Needs Education (WESNED) project, praised Malawi Against Polio for assembling and training caregivers on the use and maintenance of the wheelchairs.

“Guardians should take good care of these wheelchairs as they are very expensive and made to provide comfort mobility for children for a long time,” he advised. Funded by Bread for the World from Germany, the project not only promotes women’s education but also enriches learning opportunities for special needs students.

Joel Mkandawire, Digital Marketing and Media Officer, added that Emmanuel University is dedicated to supporting these students wherever necessary.

This commitment aligns with their goal to strengthen collaboration with the Malawi government in achieving the 2063 educational objectives.

Emmanuel University’s dedication to inclusivity is profoundly enhancing the educational journeys of these students, ensuring they have the tools they need to succeed.
