Silver Strikers Football Club Ladies and Civo Service United Football club transformed their men team’s rivalry to the pitch on Saturday afternoon as the 2 sides played out to a nail-biting encounter which the central Bankers ladies won 3-2 at Bingu National Stadium.

Silver ladies started the game on a high grabbing an early lead just after 6 minutes through new signing Chikondi Gondwe who unleashed a thunderbolt just inside the box an identical goal to which she also scored last week against Ascent Academy.

However that lead could be short lived as the Civil servants levelled matters just after few minutes.

Civo won a free kick just outside the box and up stepped former Scorchers captain Linda Kasenda who curled the ball to the far post beating Silver Goalie Samir Amidu.

From there it was a balanced affair with both teams showing some beautiful skills of football much to the delight of a handful crowd that came to witness the match.

Silver however regained lead after 31 minutes through forward Deborah Harry who pounced on a defensive mix up to put her side in front.

Moments later the Central Bankers increased their lead through Carol Mathyola.

At halftime Silver were 3-1 up.

In the second half Civo coach Abbas Makawa made several changes which proved dividend as the servants reduced the deficit through Thandi Bilima whose seemingly harmless shot was let in by goalkeeper Samir Amidu to the disbelief of her teammates.

Despite a late surge from the visiting servants, Silver held on to record their second win of the new campaign.

Speaking after the match Civo Coach Abbas Makawa conceded defeat but was optimistic that his charges will bounce back in their next game.

“We played well and I must commend my girls. I just need to beef up my squad especially in defence”, he said.

And his counterpart Andrew Chikhosi was excited with the victory.

He was however not impressed with his team’s display.

“I’m excited we have won but if you can see I think my girls were caught in derby fever mood. There was lack of coordination especially in defence. All in all I’m happy that we have won”, he said.

Elsewhere in Kasungu MDF Lioness thumped Chisomo Academy 11-1.

Scorchers forward Fazila Chiyembekezo scored 6 goals while the other goals came from Mervis Misomali(4) and Laita magombo(1)
