The Rotary Family in Africa has condoled the Rotary Club of Bwaila – Lilongwe and Malawians over the passing of Vice President Saulos Chilima, who died together with eight other people in a place crash on Monday.
In a statement, District Governor, Gabriel Chipara said; “it is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we learnt of the passing of our esteemed Honorary Rotarian of the Rotary Club of Bwaila – Lilongwe, Dr. Saulos Chilima”.
Chilima was inducted as an Honorary Rotarian of Bwaila – Lilongwe on 25th June 2016.
Chilima participated in fundraising through golf tournaments, and he graced many rotary functions, which included District Conference in Mangochi in 2016, Induction Dinners at Lilongwe and most recently, a gala dinner during President Gordon’s visit to Malawi on 26th of April 2024.
“The loss of such a dedicated and influential member has left a void in our Rotary family that will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him.
“On behalf of the Rotary District 9210 and indeed on my own behalf, we extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of our beloved Honorary Rotarian member. May you find solace in the knowledge that their contributions have made a lasting impact on countless lives and that their memory will forever be cherished within our hearts,” he said
Chilima is survived by a wife, Mary, and two children.
