QUICK FACTS: Know Civo’s new catch, Frank Chizuze

Civo Service United have signed midfielder Frank Chizuze on free transfer after the expiry of his contract with Silver Strikers.

The Servants announced two days ago that Chizuze who was loaned out to TN Stars by the Bankers last season has signed a three-year deal.

But, Who is Frank Chizuze?

Frank Chizuze is a 21-year-old attacking midfielder who can also play as a winger.

A product of the famous Kawale based Downball FC that used to produce many stars in Lilongwe. He played Downball for two years from 2010 up to 2012 then he joined Pack United Under14. Three years later, Chizuze was promoted to the Pack FC Under20 team which was playing in FMB U20.

In 2015, he was in the squad to represent Lilongwe Urban Coca-cola trophy Under-15 where Civo Service United spotted him and registered him as Civo Youth player.

Chizuze had first Malawi National team call up in 2016. He was among Malawi Under 17 players that travelled to Mauritius for COSAFA games. Later that year he was promoted to Under 20 and they travelled in South Africa for COSAFA U20.

Silver Strikers signed him in 2017 but due to the lack of game time he was demoted to the Reserve side in 2018. In 2019 the Bankers had new coach, Daniel Kabwe who admired the play of Chizuze and he recommended to promote back the youngster to the main team where he struggled again for the game time until he was loaned out to TN Star one year later.

Where is Frank Chizuze from

Chizuze was born in Lilongwe where he also stays. He is a son to former Civo Service United and Silver Strikers player Dayton Chizuze. His home village is Mpondasi, Traditional Authority Mponda in Mangochi.

National Team achievements

Chizuze played for Malawi Under 17 and 20 teams from 2016 to 2020 and he has managed to score three goals for the junior Flames teams.

What position does Frank Chizuze play

A skilful, creative, direct-running and rapid right-footed attacking player, he can play through the middle but is more regularly out wide, often on the right.

When he was named in the Malawi under-17 national team squad.

Best team mate

Chizuze mentioned Philip Banda as the best player he has played alongside. They played together at Silver Strikers Reserve and TN Stars. He also mentioned Francisco Madinga as the best player he played with at the national team.

Tough Opponent

Precious Sambani of Nyasa Big Bullets is said to be Frank Chizuze’s tough opponent ever at club level. He also mentioned Enock Mwepu as the tough opposition he played against when Junior Flames played Zambia in one of the COSAFA Junior challenge tournaments.
