This publication has gathered that Pop Young who has made a name for his unique style of using Tumbuka language to advance messages of love and themes in his songs approached one of the ladies that were part of Phyzix’s crew.

Posting on his Facebook page Pop Young said he was forced to prematurely leave the club after an altercation with some unnamed senior musician.

“I want to notify my fans that on 6 July there was an incident that involved me and one senior artist at Blue Elephant in Blantyre where the artist was performing as part of the Independence Day Celebrations.Out of respect I had to prematurely leave the club for my own safety,” wrote Pop Young on 7 July on his Facebook page without mentioning the name of the said senior artist.

But on Wednesday team Phyzix released a statement in what can be best described a direct response to Pop Young’s post.

In the post Phyzix has to have had a verbal altercation with the Mzuzu based youthful artist.

In the statement Phyzix has acknowledged that he recognized Pop Young after he was informed by one of the ladies he was in company with that the Afro Pop budding star was trying to abuse her when she was on her way to the club’s toilets.

“Following the performance, Phyzix and his entourage retreated indoors at Blues. During this time, two female members of the group, whilst heading towards the restroom side, encountered an incident involving an up-and-coming artist in the country. The said up-and-coming artist wanted to get the attention of one of the female members but was brushed off. Upon being brushed off, the artist proceeded to physically pull the lady towards him against her will.

“This was done despite her clear refusal to engage. The artist continued to attempt to speak to her closely and privately (in the ear). The female promptly informed her companions of the incident, which she said she found to be inappropriate.

“In his capacity as the leader of the entourage, Phyzix intervened by confronting the up-and-coming artist regarding what was reported to the team as harassment and generally inappropriate conduct.

“Acknowledging his wrongdoing in the presence of witnesses, the artist offered a sincere apology to both the female involved and Phyzix. Importantly, there were no instances of physical altercation or violence throughout the incident. The inappropriate conduct of the artist was witnessed by several other people present and was captured on CCTV footage, which is available for verification,” reads part of the statement

Coincidentally all this is happening at a time when Phyzix is set to launch his Mountain Goat album in Mzuzu this Saturday.

Mzuzu is regarded as Pop Young’s strong base as he is based there.

Phyzix is no stranger to controversy with fellow artists as he has openly had personal issues with fellow artists like Fredokiss,Achina Gattah and Jolly Bro.
