The Professional Golfers Association (PGA) Malawi has appealed to the general public for financial support ahead of African Nations Challenge Cup slated for 1-6 August in Nkonyeni Golf Estate, Eswatini.
According to statement signed by PGA Malawi President General Henry Odillo Retired, the team needs a minimum of 6000.00 US Dollars to meet flight, accommodation, food, tournament fees and other logistics to the tournament.
“We request for financial support for Malawi’s Professional Golf Team comprised of 4 players to feature at the tournament.
“We need USD750.00 for air tickets per player, USD300.00 per player for six days, the tournament fee is USD100.00 per player. There’s also caddy fees amounting to USD150.00 per player and Miscellaneous of USD200.00 per player” said Odillo
Odillo further said the team’s presence at the event will Malawi on the regional map as far as Malawi Sports Tourism is concerned.
The African Nations Challenge Cup tournament will be the largest gathering of national team and individual professional golfers on the continent.
The competition will incorporate pro-ams, conferencing an expo and team activities to create an unforgettable experience.
The tournament is hosted by the Kingdom of Eswatini and co-sanctioned by the Africa Professional Golf Tour (APGT) and the PGA of Eswatini.
The teams will tussle in a 62 hole stroke play tournament for both individual and the three best scores will be taken for each day for the team event and individual scores will also be considered over the 72 holes for every player in the field.
