Nyasa Capital Finance Company Limited has emphasised on the need for central region teams to maintain discipline and abide by fair play rules when competing in this year’s Nyasa Capital Finance Cup.
The Nyasa Capital cup consists of 32 teams from the central region where 24 teams are from the Premier devision whilst the other 8 are from the Division 1.
Speaking during a draw conducted at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe, one of the Nyasa Capital Finance Company Directors Ronald Chiwaula said as a company they want to associate themselves with a competition that has teams that abide by fair play rules and are disciplined.
Chiwaula said Nyasa Capital Finance is committed to sponsoring football in all regions of Malawi and that is reason they have injected more money into the competition.
“As you are aware that this year’s cup sponsorship has been raised from K45 million to K65 million, that shows how committed we are in helping develop football in Malawi. But this commitment from us calls for teams participating in the competition to be exemplary in how they conduct themselves by following rules of the game with discipline and fairplay.” said Chiwaula.
Commenting on the draw, Chiwaula said he is impressed with how it was conducted and expects hidden talent to be exposed.
“We are impressed with the draw, representatives of the teams have all liked how the draw has been conducted and there has been no queries from the teams. From here we expect those running the competition to be transparent so that we should find a well deserved winner,” he added.
General Secretary of the Central Region Football Association, Bernard Chiwiruwiru Harawa conquered with Chiwaula by describing the draw as very fair as it was transparent and teams were satisfied.
Harawa said the competition will be stiff and exciting with the coming in of Division 1 teams as some upsets can be witnessed.
“As Central Region Football Association we are ready for the games to roll out and we are glad with how the draw has been conducted. All stakeholders present took part in the draw and this made the draw very open,” said Harawa.
The sponsorship hike means the central region teams will tussle it out over close to K21 million.
Currently, Silver Strikers Reserves are the central region champions.
