By Maston Kaiya:
A grouping called Ntcheu Dzuka led by Kondwani Phambana, Bilesi Ntsinambuto and Mustafa Matola on Wednesday presented a petition to Ntcheu District Commissioner (DC), Francis Matewere over the high cost of living.
The march started from Ntcheu old bus depot, along M1, to Police turn off near Bungwe House to the Council offices.
Among others the grouping through their Spokesperson, Ntsinambuto cited high cost of basic goods like sugar, oil, unemployment, frequent blackouts and exorbitant electricity and water connections.
The grouping claims that government was not fulfilling its campaign promises.
Receiving the petition, DC Matewere thanked the grouping for peaceful march and advised them to go back peacefully.
“Protocol demands that once the DC receives the petition, he takes it to the Office of the President and Cabinet, so I will take it to that office,” he said
The petitioners have since given government 14 days to respond to their concerns.
