Archbishop George Desmond Tambala-OCD has appointed Fr. Vincent Mwakhwawa as Vicar General of the metropolitan Archdiocese of Lilongwe.
This means that Fr. Mwakhwawa has now with immediate effect succeed Monsignor Reverend Dr. Fr. Patrick Thawale who has been on the post during late Archbishop Ziyaye.
According to communication from the Archbishop’s office in Lilongwe, Monsignor Thawale is now Director of Social Development and Industries and that he will be operating from Andrea Kaggwa Woyera, Area 49 as Parish Priest while Rev Fr. Vincent Mwakhwawa would be serving as Parish Priest at Our Lady of Africa, Maula Cathedral.
The two Mwakhwawa and Thawale would be working together in the hierarchy of advisors of the Archbishop (college of consultors), they would also work together in the Archdiocesan Theological Commission.
There has been also several appointments made such as chaplaincies of different portfolios, appointments of Parish Priests and their deputies (Parochial Vicars) and other committees such as finance and investment council, projects department, agribusiness department, youth ministry, vicars for religious and synodal path commission.
There are also three Priests going to Italy, Austria and Spain for further studies.
