Music Crossroads, a Musical Academy in Area 23 in Lilongwe, continues to produce great musicians with one of them Maggie Kadrum releasing an album titled Nkhwiza.
The album was launched at the opulent and executive place Orchids in Area 12 last Friday.
According to Kadrum the 7-track album was released last Thursday and is already enjoying massive airplay in most local radio stations.
Kadrum told The Atlas that she was very excited to perform in front of an expectant crowd and had spent weeks rehearsing for the show.
“I never expected that the audience will give me such a rousing reception. It was electric from the word go until the end. I cannot wait for more shows in future because we want to take music to another level,” said Kadrum.
The show was attended by many fun lovers and according to Kadrum they enjoyed all the songs which are mostly Afro Jazz.
On why she joined Music Crossroads, Kadrum said she wanted to get more experience as well as exposure.
‘I am a singer, a song writer, composer and bass player but there is no better place to learn music in Malawi than Music Crossroads Academy. I have band named in my name and it will be backing me during my shows. There are five members and we know the sky is the limit,’ she explained.
Music Crossroads Academy Director Gayighayi Mathews Mfune described Maggie as a fulfilment of the mission and vision of Music Cross Roads Academy. What people saw during Maggie’s show was the mirror of Music Crossroads Academy. Since our inception we have changed the narrative of how music is presented in Malawi,’ said Mfune.
In the past four years Music Crossroads has produced over 500 well trained musicians who are contributing massively to the music industry.
