FCB Nyasa Big Bullets chances of defending TNM Super League title are getting slimmer as they stumble by playing out a 1-1 draw at home against Moyale Barracks.

New signing Lameck Gamphani was thrown into the first 11 for the first time but the Kalisto Pasuwa’s men missed the services of starlet Chikumbutso Salima, Babatunde Adepoju and Collin Mujuru who were rested ahead of CAF Champions League fixture against Zambian side, Red Arrows.

After an impressive few weeks which saw FCB Nyasa Big Bullets knocked out Mighty Mukuru Wanderers in FDH Bank Cup and became favourites to overhaul Moyale in Super League, the People’s team took a deserved lead on 35 minutes through Maxwell Phodo Gasten’s bending effort from 30 yards.

The victory for the Red Army could have kept hopes of retaining the league alive but their dreams were shattered when Peter Ng’ambi pulled level inside added time of the first half.

It was a tight game in the second half and neither team had more success in the second half, unsurprisingly first half goals were enough for the game to end 1-1.

“We are struggling even to keep possession at times and we are failing also to take chances and we are conceding easily” said Kalisto Pasuwa

When asked about catching up with leaders Silver Strikers who are 16 points ahead, he said: “We will play our games as they come, we need to concentrate on what is lacking in us then we try to pick up the points”

Meanwhile, dreams of defending the title looks dead at Bullets as they just climb up to 24 points while Silver Strikers have 40 points at the summit after 16 matches.

For the visitors it was effective for them to secure what coach Pritchard Mwasa described as a ‘vital point’.

“It was an entertaining match, both teams had chances but for us as Moyale Barracks were contented as you know collecting one point against a big team like Big Bullets at their home it’s not an easy thing” said Mwasa.

With a draw, the Soldiers from Kaning’ina remains 9th as they climb up to 23 points.
