The family of businessman Milward Nyangulu, on Wednesday donated 300 bags of maize and cash K5 million cash to Home of hope in Mchinji District.
The donation, according to Milward Nyangulu Junior, was Inspired by the scriptures in Mark 10 verse 17 where Jesus told a rich man who had everything but was lacking the heart of giving to the poor in order to inherit eternal life and as a way of celebrating the festive season,
Home of Hope is an orphanage which is a home to more than 700 children.
Speaking after presenting the donation, Nyangulu said Malawians must emulate the heart of giving in order to push each other forward.
The Mchinji based businessman said people must be inspired to give others regardless of all other things they do.
“You dont have to have everything in this world to give to others. The little you have can be shared with the poor and it will mean alot. As a family, we are inspired with what Jesus told the rich man who was seeking inheritance for eternal life.
“He told him to sell everything and give the proceeds to the poor thats why we have made this donation today. We feel this donation will bring a change in the children’s life.” He said.
Milward added that Home of Hope is an excellent home for children and encouraged the children not to lose hope for God is with them and everything is happening for a reason.
On the receiving end, Founder and Executive Director for Home of Hope Reverend Thomson John Chipeta Retired said he was thankful to God that the Milward family has come forward at a time that they desperately needed maize for food to feed the children.
Chipeta qouted Proverbs 19 verse 17 saying that those that assist the poor are lending to God and they will be paid back with interest.
“We are thankful for the donation as it has come at a right time because there is need for food for the children. We dont take the donation for granted. Our storeroom was almost empty and we were troubled as to where we will get food for these children.
“However, we still luck some other things at this institution as we are currently operating primary, secondary and technical schools but there are no houses for the teachers working with us as these schools are completely free of charge,” said Chipeta.
Home of Hope was founded by Reverend Chipeta in 1992 as he was self inspired as he grew up as an orphan at the age of 14.
The orphanage has an early childhood development center, a primary and secondary school
