A 75th minute strike by Messiah Kachingwe helped Mighty Tigers beat Extreme FC 1-0 at home in the TNM Super League on Tuesday, lifting them further away from relegation danger and deepen Extreme’s relegation worries.

Extreme FC have 14 points as they sit 16th– 6 points off the safe zone where 13th Blue Eagles placed stays.

Meanwhile, Tigers moved up to 12th in the standings with 21 point, a huge boost to their quest of surviving relegation after they found themselves in the drop zone in recent weeks.

“Three points today, I believe boosts our goal of surviving in the League,” Mighty Tigers coach Christopher Nyambose told reporters after the match.

“We worked very hard today after losing to Blue Eagles over the weekend and at the end we grabbed important three points” he added

Extreme FC were awarded a penalty for a handball in three minutes before full time but Francis Blacks 12 yards effort was saved by Tigers’ Innocent Nyasulu.

“Iam very disappointed I didn’t expect the players to perform the way they performed today especially on the attacking part, I have to commend the defensive part because we could have conceded so more goals” said Extreme FC coach Andrew Bunya in his reaction

On Extreme’s surviving chances he said “it’s simple mathematics, we remain with 10 games and if we win all plus the 14 points we already have it’s 44 points so chances are still there to survive”
