Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Patricia Nangozo Kainga expressed confidence in the Malawi Congress Party’s (MCP) chances of winning in the upcoming September 16 general elections.
The deputy minister made the remarks on Saturday during a political rally at Satema Primary Ground in Zomba.
She highlighted the government’s achievements, citing development activities across the country, and emphasized that the party deserves re-election.
Kainga pointed to the construction of a tar-marked road in Mtiya- Zomba, as an example of the government’s delivery beyond people’s expectations.
She also mentioned initiatives aimed at transforming lives through job creation, tourism, industrialization, and intensified agribusiness.
“We want to ensure people in Zomba and the whole of Malawi that the government is doing everything possible to bring different initiatives that would transform their lives,” Kainga said.
She However, encouraging people to turn out in large numbers to vote on election day.
In his remarks ,Village Headman Mtiya 2, appealed to the government to consider distributing free maize and other food to his people, who are facing a hunger crisis due to economic hardship.
Despite this, he commended the government for constructing the tar-marked Mtiya road, which has reduced mobility challenges in the area .
