Malawi Network of AIDs Services Organization (MANASO) in conjunction with National Association for People Living with HIV and AIDS in Malawi (NAPHAM), on Tuesday conducted an HIV and AIDS sensitization campaign aimed at urging youths to refrain from sexual activities that may lead to the increase of new HIV infections.
Speaking during the campaign at the Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR) Natural Resources College (NRC) campus, Lilongwe District Project Coordinator for MANASO, Isaiah Chitsulo said the awareness aims to achieve increased annual viral load suppression as well as reducing maternal and neonatal mortality rates in addition to contributing towards reduction of annual HIV incidences.
“We are conducting this awareness to lock the gap that we noticed through our research that most of the youths do not make use of the availability of the services we are providing,” said Chitsulo.
NRC Campus Ambassador for Pamodzi Project, Angela Kazembe commended MANASO and NAPHAM for contributing to improved health service delivery at the institution.
“I am very delighted with the services rendered to us as health services have now been brought closer to us,” said Kazembe.
The campaign under Pamodzi Project, is among others, aimed at improving the accountability for HIV and AIDS, Sexual Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) and ending Gender Based Violence (GBV) to all age groups in institutions of higher learning and surroundings.
