Malawi and the Russian Federation have signed a memorandum on consultations establishing a structured framework for regular consultations between our two countries.
The memorandum was signed on Friday on the sidelines of the Second Ministerial Conference of the Russia–Africa Partnership in Cairo, Egypt, by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Malawi, George Chaponda, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov.
Chaponda said the memorandum establishes a structured framework for regular consultations between our two countries, aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in areas such as politics, trade and economic development, investment, science and technology, tourism, culture, as well as peace, regional and global security, and multilateral cooperation.
“The signing of this Memorandum reflects Malawi’s commitment to constructive engagement with international partners and to promoting dialogue founded on mutual respect, international law, and shared interests.
“It also opens opportunities for closer interaction between our diplomatic missions and institutions in pursuit of mutually beneficial cooperation. Malawi remains committed to advancing its foreign policy agenda in support of national development and a more equitable and secure global order,” he said
