Malawi Airlines Q400 aircraft developed a flight control fault after engine start and before taxiing out.
In a statement released Friday, the company said after trouble shooting by the engineer on board it was decided to shut down both engines for a better diagnosis of the problem.
“Our pilots followed standard safety protocols by not taxiing out with a known technical problem. As Malawi’s national carrier, safety remains our top priority in all our operations.
“We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety and reliability for all our passengers and crew. We assure the public that there was no risk to anyone on board, and all necessary measures were taken promptly and professionally.
