Lilongwe Society for the Protection and Care of Animals (LSPCA) is set to host a fundraising golf tournament next month at Lilongwe Golf Club.
In an interview with Malawi News Agency, LSPCA Communications Officer Gracious Chimbalanga said the fundraising golf tournament, scheduled for October 28, is aiming at raising funds for supporting LSPCA operations.
“We want to raise funds to support our continued efforts in the elimination of the cruel and illegal roadside sale of live animals. Secondly we want to create awareness about animal welfare issues in Malawi,” Chimbalanga said.
He said the fundraising golf tournament is open to all golf lovers, adding that as an organization they are looking at as many teams as possible to take part during the golf tournament.
Chimbalanga therefore called upon well-wishers, including golf enthusiasts, to be part of the fundraising tournament in order to help in making a difference in the work of protecting and taking care of animals in the country.
“We invite everyone to tee-off for a great cause at our upcoming golf fundraiser tournament. It is not just a swing of the club, but a swing towards making a real difference in many animals.
“Whether you are a seasoned golfer or a beginner eager to have some fun on the green, this event is for you; gather your friends, colleagues, or family for a great day of fun and laughter,” he said.
Chimbalanga also appealed to sponsors to come forward and support the fundraising golf tournament by sponsoring specific golf holes or teams as well as prizes for the winners in form of funds or vouchers of their products.
Sponsors will get an opportunity to market and showcase their products during the day of the event, according to him.
Lilongwe Golf Club captain Duncan Chidzankufa applauded LSPCA for organizing the fundraising tournament, saying the tournament will allow golfers to showcase their skills hence promoting the game in the country.
LSPCA works in partnership with the Malawi Government in relation to all animal welfare and animal health matters in the country.
The organization also works with the Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources in offering veterinary and para-veterinary education in the country.
