There is hope of improved health service delivery in Lilongwe following the opening of a new community hospital that has been constructed by the Lilongwe Sunni Foundation (LSF).

The new hospital which is in area 3 has been constructed to serve community members within and around area 3.

Speaking during the official opening ceremony of the hospital, Manzoor Bheda Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the foundation said the hospital has been constructed to cater for the less privileged who cannot afford to pay for quality health services in the private hospitals.

“This a community hospital that will take care of anyone regardless of their status in the society. Those who can afford to pay will pay and those that cannot afford will be getting services for free,” said Bheda.

And in his remarks Amir Patel, Chairperson of the Lilongwe Sunni Foundation said seeing the hospital complete is like a dream coming true as for so long he has harboured ambitions to contribute to the country’s quality health service delivery.

According to him the hospital has been constructed to complement government’s efforts of ensuring quality health service delivery to the citizens.

“I’m excited to see the hospital operational today. When we started off I never thought this will turn out to be this big. This is a dream coming true for me and this hospital will continue to grow with the support from members of the foundation,” said Patel.
Currently the hospital is only offering OPD services but it will soon start offering 24 hour services.

Official opening of the hospital

Construction of the hospital commenced in 2017.
