Mtunthama Lions Club in collaboration with the Mchinji Fort Manning Lions Club donated reading glasses to children with albinism at the Home of Hope Orphanage in Mchinji.
The donation was aimed to address the vision challenges faced by these children, providing them with a valuable tool for their education.
Mtunthama Lions Club President, Chawanangwa Mzembe expressed the club’s commitment to supporting children with albinism, recognizing the various difficulties they encounter, especially related to sight.
“We thought, we would alleviate some of these problems by providing reading glasses,” Mzembe said.
He pledged continued efforts to reach out to the orphanage with additional resources.
President of Mchinji Fort Manning Lions Club, Frederick Muyaba appealed to other well-wishers to join their cause.
“There are diverse initiatives supported by Lions Clubs, including diabetes testing, environmental projects, and addressing sight problems. We are extendingour reach and positively impact more lives,” he said.
Founder of Home of Hope Orphanage established in 1996, Rev. John Chipeta expressed gratitude to the Lions Clubs for their generous donation.
“You have come to support the children with glasses, but you can still come to support in other aspects. I appeal for additional assistance, citing the children’s needs for essentials like food and clothing,” he said.
