Primary School Champions in both football and netball categories in Lilongwe City Mayor’s Trophy will be determined on Friday at Bingu National Stadium.

Lilongwe City Council Spokesperson Tamara Chafunya has told The Atlas Malawi that they have finished all preparations for the final.

Chafunya said Khumula and Mvama Primary Schools will face off in football while in netball Chizingwe Primary School will battle it out Kamuzu Barracks Primary School.

“The Lilongwe City Mayors Trophy is indeed being held on Friday 8th December 2023 at Bingu National Stadium” said Chafunya

Chafunya added that the competition is very important for sports development in the country.

“One of the goals for Lilongwe City Mayors Trophy is to see talent is identified and nurtured at a tender age and we hope this is the way to develop players for national team”

The four finalists made their way to finals in this year’s competition which had 54 participating teams.

According to Chafunya, games will begin at 12 noon and finalized at 5 pm and Champions will walk away with jerseys and other prizes.
