Reported By Sheminah Nkhoma:

President Lazarus Chakwera has urged Malawians to embrace a culture of hard work instead of depending on handouts.

He made the remarks at Nkhwazi Primary School ground in Mchinji where he conducted a development rally on Monday.

Chakwera emphasized that national development depends on citizens investing in meaningful projects, particularly in agriculture to achieve food security, and in other vital sectors that drive economic growth.

He further urged the citizens to be living peacefully with neighboring countries like Zambia and Mozambique as we are all Africans.

The Malawi leader also condemned the ongoing political violence, stressing the importance of peaceful coexistence despite political differences.

Chakwera also assured the people of Mchinji that the government will continue extending electricity to various areas through the Malawi Rural Electrification Programme (MAREP).

Member of Parliament for Mchinji South, Agnes Nkusa Nkhoma, commended government’s support in her area saying there are many developments which are taking place.

She then urged the government to provide safe and accessible water in her area and to prioritize the National Economic Empowerment Fund (NEEF) project to support the youth in her constituency.

In his remarks, Secretary General for Malawi Congress Party (MCP), Richard Chimwendo Banda thanked President Chakwera for different developments which are taking place in all parts of the country.

“We have seen roads being constructed, police houses and school facilities, this shows how committed your administration is to develop this nation,” said Banda.

He added that the government has constructed health posts in many districts, regardless of political affiliation.
