The four accused persons in the cementgate case failed to take plea last week at the Revenue Division of the High Court because some defense lawyers had not renewed their licenses.
The four, Norman Chisale, former State Residences director general Peter Mukhito, Malawi Revenue Authority Deputy Commissioner General Roza Mbilizi and businessman Shafee Ahmed Chunara failed to take plea two years after their arrest.
They are being accused of illegally using former president Peter Mutharika’s Tax Payer Identification Number (TPIN) to purchase cement worth over K5 billion.
High Court Judge Chimbizgani Kacheche adjourned the case to a later date.
Senior State advocate Pirirani Masanjala told the media that they are ready with the case.
