The Zomba Chief Resident Court has set August 31 as the date it will deliver it’s sentence in the case involving former Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) commissioner Linda Kunje and her driver Jones Tewesa.
Kunje and Tewesa were last week convicted in a case the two obstructed President Lazarus Chakwera’s convoy in 2020.
On Tuesday the court heard sentencing submissions from both the state and the defence before it delivers it’s sentence.
Following the conviction, the two have been remanded to Zomba maximum prison.
Kunje was one of the Commisoners who presided over the nullified 2019 Presidential Polls.
