The Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHeS) has issued a warning about fraudsters targeting both prospective and current students by demanding tuition, accommodation, and other fees through mobile money platforms such as TNM Mpamba and Airtel Money.
In an official statement, KUHeS management emphasized that the university does not accept payments through these channels. All official payments are strictly made through the university’s designated bank accounts, as communicated in admission letters and official press releases.
“The University does not receive money through TNM Mpamba or Airtel Money. All payments must go through the officially designated bank accounts,” the statement read.
KUHeS urged students and the general public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station. The university also clarified that no individual is authorized to collect money on its behalf through unauthorized means.
Last week, the KUHeS Council announced the names of candidates selected for various undergraduate degree programs for the 2026 Academic Year.
A total of 817 students have been admitted based on merit, having met all the necessary admission requirements. Among them, 386 are male (47.1%), 431 are female (52.9%), and four are international students.
The university has assured selected candidates that commencement dates for the 2026 Academic Year will be announced in due course. Admission letters will be sent via email or can be collected from the university’s campuses in Blantyre and Lilongwe.
KUHeS continues to urge students and parents to verify any payment details directly with the university to avoid falling victim to scams.
