The Kasungu Lions Club has donated 450 sun and sight glasses to the Association of Persons with Albinism (APAM).
Speaking after making the donation, President for Kasungu Lions Club Jones Banda said they decided to donate the glasses as one way of easing challenges that people with albinism are facing.
“APAM told us their challenges and their needs during our past meeting with them so we decided to take action, we had to look for these glasses from our partners who responded positively,” he said
Banda further said Kasungu Lions Club will continue engaging other partners to support them with different materials that will be directed to help persons with albinism in different ways.
On his part APAM President Young Muhamba was thinkful to Kasungu Lions Club saying the glasses are essential for the health of persons with Albinism.
“We are very grateful for this donation as you are aware that people with albinism struggle very much in areas of health especially eye problems, we struggle to see in the presence of too much sun,” said Muhamba
Muhamba further urged other well wishers to emulate what Kasungu Lions Club has done.
“We are open for donations, apart from glasses we also need long sleeve clothes, hats and also to be economically empowered,” he said
According to Muhamba, APAM will donate glasses to those who can’t afford to buy on their own.
