Kambala addressing party members

As the UTM Party heads toward its elective conference on November 17, 2024, Engineer Newton David Kambala has emerged as the leading contender for the presidency.

Known for his unwavering dedication to the party’s founding ideals and his strong stance against corruption, nepotism, and tribalism, Kambala is widely regarded as the rightful successor to the late Saulos Klaus Chilima (SKC).

Kambala’s involvement with UTM dates back to its inception, where he has been described as the “moving spirit” behind its growth and resilience.

“Newton Kambala has been there for SKC and the entire UTM body politic through thick and thin,” said a seasoned party delegate. “He embodies the vision and focus that SKC championed for a better Malawi.”

Delegates have commended Kambala’s commitment to inclusivity and nation-building, traits they say align with SKC’s vision.

“He sees Malawians as Malawians—without prejudice based on race, ethnicity, or region,” one delegate shared.

“That’s the kind of leadership Malawi needs: someone who promotes unity and meritocracy over division.”

Party members have also highlighted his balanced mental framework and his resolve to uphold integrity and merit in leadership.

“These are the pillars of nation-building, and Newton Kambala is a leader who stands firmly on them,” remarked another delegate.

With the elective conference just a day away, UTM members are optimistic about the party’s future under Kambala’s stewardship.
