Civil Service Women and Silver Strikers Ladies have joined Ascent Academy and MDF Lioness to form an all-Goshen City-FAM Women’s Championship semi-final to be played this Friday at Bingu National Stadium, Lilongwe.

Civil Service United Women booked their semifinal place after thrashing Mzuzu Based, MK Academy 6-0.

Bernerdattar Nyenga scored a brace to take her tally to three goals in the competition.

Thandie Bilima also scored twice while Evelyne Nthala and Alinafe Mpira netted a goal each to help the Servants sail through.

Civil Service Women coach Collins Pofera hailed his charges for the spirited performance that earned his team a place in the last four.

“Let me thank the girls, they played very well today. We struggled in the first 15 minutes as my players were underrating the opponents but after talking to them they changed the approach and we managed to bang six goals” said Pofera

His counterpart, Khumbo Sibale admitted admitted his team lacked experience.

“We have accepted the defeat since this is the first time to reach this level. It’s been three years since we established this team and we have a lot of youngsters” said Khumbo Sibale

Thereafter, Silver Strikers Ladies were the next to progress thanks to their 3-1 win over Moyale Sisters.

Linda Manda, Deborah Henry and Chikondi Gondwe were on target for the Bankers whereas Moyale got their consolation through Chippo Ngwenya.

“it was a good game, very tough as well as we faced Northern Region champions but iam happy we managed to get the right result” said Silver Strikers Ladies coach Andrew Chikhosi.

Moyale Sisters coach John Chimwala said: “There are a number of factors for our loss, we have a youthful team, it was their first time to play at a ground like this so they took time to settle. We had problems in combinations more especially our front but we’ve learnt a lot and hopefully next year we will perform better that this time”.

The Semifinal line up has been set as Ascent Academy will face Silver Strikers Ladies while Civil Service Women will date MDF Lioness.
