Kalisto Pasuwa will have to make do without four reliable players when Nyasa Big Bullets hosts Kamuzu Barracks on Saturday in the opening match of the 2022 TNM Super League second round.
The People’s team head into the game sitting 11 points above second placed Blue Eagles as they aim to maintain their unbeated run having played 16 games in all competitions this season without testing a defeat.
According to Pasuwa, his side will be without vice captain america Chimwemwe Idana and defender Kesten Simbi due to suspensions, Richard Chimbamba due to sickness while Anthony Mfune is out through injury.
It will be a major setback especially for the part of Idana and Simbi who have been in sensational form since the start of this season. Deep lying play maker Idana has started all Bullets games, scoring five times and providing a number of assists while Simbi is the only centre back in the team to have played more games this season.
“We are building this team around Idana so missing him and his colluegues is going to be a blow but it’s a chance to others to prove to us their worthy” said Pasuwa
Despite the concerns, Pasuwa believes his side has what it takes to claim the victory: “We are facing a very physical side, a team full of effort and they try to win each and every ball or even in tassels so it’s a game that we need to take it seriously in order for us to get the results”
His opponent Charles Kamanga is confident to end Bullets’ unbeaten run.
“We have collected more points in away games than at home this season and being the first game in the final half of the season we need to start with a win so Iam very confident of winning tomorrow’s game” said Kamanga
Nyasa Big Bullets beat Kamuzu Barracks 1-0 when the two sides met in the first round at Civo Stadium.
Current Bullets sits at the summit with 41 points while KB stays fifth with 26 points.
