South East Education Division (SEED) captain Kaliwo Nyirenda has revealed that he loves watching FCB Nyasa Big Bullets left back Precious Sambani.
Kaliwo was one of the standout performers at the Malawi Youth Games, hosted in Lilongwe from August 31st, 2023 to 3rd September 2023 where he guided his team to win the title.
Soon after their 2-1 win over Shire Highlands Education Division (SHED) in the final at Civo Stadium, the 17-year-old took time to reflect on the path he’s been on to this point in his career.
Speaking to The Atlas, the Rumphi born star said of his youth: “If you talk about local footballers, I like Precious Sambani of Bullets. I started admiring his play since I was young until today, his movement, crosses and goals are exceptional and I want to work hard and reach Sambani’s level”.
Asked if there’s a bigger influencer on his footballing career, Nyirenda said “My parents particularly my father have always been supportive to me, giving me advice and trying to help me to work hard in school and in my footballing career”
Kaliwo Nyirenda started his early childhood football career in Rumphi before moving to Zomba in 2017 following the transfer of his father, a Malawi prison employee.
In Zomba he joined his current club Soccer Saints which plays in FAM Under 19 League.
The towering young star whose desire is to play abroad is expected to begin his Secondary School Journey in the forthcoming term at Cobbe Barracks Secondary School where he has been selected to.
Nyirenda An Integral Offensive Weapon
At left-back, his penetrating runs down the flank were a huge part of attacking minded SEED.
On those runs, Nyirenda could drawn in opposition defenders and free up space for SEED’s central players. But he’s not isolated while making those runs: he’s pushing his team, as a whole, forward.
In a role that sometimes looks more like a wing-back, his pace was vital to SEED’s build-up play.
