Mpanga’s name has been confirmed today, Wednesday, 4th September, 2024 by members of Parliament.
She further described her appointment as an accomplishment of balance participation of men and women in the commission.
“Iam speechless because I didn’t expect that this would happen in the house, both sides have enormously accepted me as the commissioner so iam very appreciative”
“As you know women have been left behind in most decision making positions, now world wide they are advocating for women to come out to be carrying out positions that were dominated by men so I think the house was excited because they knew that now it will Commission there will be 50-50 in the commission” said Mpanga
Her appointment comes after a vacancy had risen in the Commission following the appointment of George Chaponda as Leader of Opposition.
Mpanga joins George Zulu, Lillian Patel, Chrispin Mphande, Noah Chimpeni and the Speaker of Parliament, Catherine Gotani Hara, MP who chairs the Commission.
