Mark Harrison, Mighty Mukuru Wanderers fumed at referee, Mwayi Msungama for failing to award the Nomads with a penalty in the Blantyre Derby on Sunday afternoon.

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets came from behind to snatch a point against their city rivals, Mighty Mukuru Wanderers as Stanley Sanudi scored a brilliant goal in the first half before Maxwell Phodo cancelled it in the second half.

After the recess, Wanderers were dogging for the crucial second goal and Gaddie Chirwa was brought down in the penalty area but the referee awarded the corner-kick to Wanderers instead of the penalty.

Msungama paid a blind eye to Bullets’ penalty appeal when Hassan Kajoke went down in the penalty area when he was battling for the ball with Williams Thole.

After the game, Mark said referees have been denying them penalties several times this season.

“The referees have been denying us penalties on several occasions this season. He denied us a penalty and Bullets were also supposed to have a penalty you know,” he said.

The league is for Bullets to lose

The two Blantyre based giants who are chasing the title shared the spoils for the third time in a row. Last year, Mighty Mukuru Wanderers came from behind to snatch a point in a 3-all stalemate and points were also shared in the first round this season after a barren stalemate.

The draw leaves Bullets just short of six points from defending the league. Wanderers have remained with two games against Mighty Waka Waka Tigers and Civil Service United before wrapping up their season. Should they win all of their remaining games, the Nomads will have a maximum points of 60.

The people’s team have 54 points but they have five games to play before winding up their season. They are playing four away games and they will finish with a home game against Silver Strikers.

Kalisto Pasuwa, Head Coach for Bullets said the draw was a good result for them.

“On my side, it’s a point gained. It was the opposition who were supposed to do more on us. Remember, we only came to manage the game. We have been playing football , these guys should have been hungry enough in order for them to beat us,” said Pasuwa.

Commenting on the title race, Mark Harrison said they will be relying on Bullets to drop the points for them to claim the Championship.

“Of course, it’s for them [Bullets] to lose the title. I doubt if they will lose. We will rely on them to drop the points. All we can do is win our last two games and see where we will finish,” said Mark.
