Ganda removed as DPP director of elections after praising Chakwera

The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) president Peter Mutharika has removed Gladys Ganda as director of elections, after she praised President Lazarus Chakwera on Monday.

He removal comes less than a month after she was elected on the position at the party’s national convention in Blantyre.

According to a press release signed by Presidential Spokesperson and National Publicity Secretary Shadric Namalomba, Ganda has been reassigned as presidential advisor.

“The DPP is delighted to officially announce the reassignment of Hon Gladys Ganda MP from the position of Director of Elections to the position of Presidential Advisor. This reassignment is with immediate effect” reads part of the notice

While addressing people in Nsanje on Monday, Ganda praised Chakwera for among other things, rural electrification program at Mbenje and Namitalaka in her constituency, Nsanje Lalanje.

“Mr President, you didn’t consider that I am a DPP legislator but you are still bringing in developments in my area. As you know, next year we will have general elections in the country, people will be looking at such developments when choosing leaders.

“It is God who chooses leaders, and he chose you to bring such developments in the country, in all constituencies regardless of which party, an MP belongs to,” she said
