FCB Nyasa Big Bullets have been forced to cancel their “planned” International friendly games due to the four-Nation tournament that Malawi will host from March 18 to 26, we have learnt.

The People’s Team announced that they cancelled their Pre-season International Bonanza due to technical and logistical reasons, hence they decided to play international friendly matches ahead of the new season.

The Club’s Chief Administrative Officer, Albert Chigoga said the club was working on courting teams from neighbouring countries for some strength-testing matches, in his interview with Times Sport last month.

“We are trying to get some teams for some friendly matches, be it within the country or outside. Once we identify a suitable team that we can play against, we will make it known to the public,” he said.

Bullets were planning to travel to Mozambique to face Mark Harrison’s UD Songo and Ferroviaro De Beira before the season starts but the games have been cancelled according to reliable sources and according to the Club’s article published on their website, it hints about the cancellation of the trip.

“Bullets will return to Blantyre on Monday and [Kalisto] Pasuwa will continue preparing his team for the new season without nine players who will now join the Malawi squad currently in camp preparing for the upcoming four-Nation tournament slated to start next week Saturday in Lilongwe,” announces the Club through their official website.

Pasuwa worried that a four-Nation tournament might affect their preparations

Nine players from FCB Nyasa Big Bullets are expected to join Patrick Mabedi’s squad in Blantyre ahead of the four-nation tournament.

Football Association of Malawi in conjunction with Zambia FA, Kenya FA and Zimbabwe FA decided to organize an eight-day tournament which they back to help their teams prepare for the forthcoming AFCON and World Cup Qualifiers.

Mike Mkwate is doing light training while Alick Lungu, Frank Willard and Clever Mkungula are yet to start preparations as they are still injured. Sources say that Willard has undergone successful surgery after the injury that he picked last season which will be clarified by the team in a few days coming.

Speaking after beating Kalembelembe Stars FC on Saturday in Mponela, the Zimbabwean gaffer said his players could be at risk of getting injuries due to a lack of pre-season training.

“We have been training with 24 players, and luckily enough, we managed to train with those 10 players who are going to Flames. We might have trained with 14 players.

“Last season we had so many injuries and some of the guys are still injured and not yet back [in the team]. That’s one area where as Bullets we need to manage because we might have many players going out injured, but so far so good, we will see how we are going to start the season,” he said.

The People’s Team have completed their preparations in the Central Region after playing two friendly matches against Kalembelembe Stars FC and Chatoloma Admarc and they have managed to get big wins, scoring 10 goals and conceding just once.
