FOMO FC have been promoted into the TNM Super League for the first time in history after a 4-3 penalty shootout win over Ntopwa Football Club.

The Mulanje based side took the lead on the 2nd minute through Chimwemwe Kamoto but Ntopwa equalized 12 minutes later courtesy of Japhet Kamzimbi to false a 1-1 draw at full-time.

The two sides were separated by penalties as Ntopwa’s missed their efforts through Innocent Milanzie and Amidu Medson while Clever Chikwata, Joseph Macdonald and Seleman Mussa managed to score.

The 2023 Thumbsup champions scored all their penalties that were taken by Sebastian Chinsomba, Chimwemwe Kamoto, Oscar Mangwaya and Hassan Lwemba.

FOMO FC have joined Kawinga FC whose Super League promotion was confirmed yesterday.

Kawinga FC promotion was put on hold following complaint with Chipiku League, claiming that Ngolowindo FC connived with the newly promoted Central Region Football Association (CRFA) Chipiku League champions not to honor their to ensure that Zitha do not secure a win by more goals and close in on goal difference with the leaders.

CRFA disciplinary committee found verdict found Kawinga, Zitha and Ngolowindo guilty of match manipulation and meted out various punishments.

Kawinga and Zitha were fined K500,000 and their officials suspended from football activities for various periods while Ngolowindo has been banned for three years.

Zitha indicated that they would challenge CRFA disciplinary committee verdict but later they reversed their idea, forcing CRFA to shut the case and declare Kawinga as Champions.

The Area 22 side have won the League with 53 points against 47 of second placed Namitete Zitha FC.

The Northern Region Football Association were the first to produce the champion, Baka City who are among promoted teams.
