Forum for National Development (FND) has written the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament chairperson to investigate how South African fugitive Willie Steenkamp obtained a Malawian diplomatic passport.

Wanted for financial crimes, Steenkamp, who arrived in the country last year as an investor using the name Dr. William Bilderberg, was arrested last month the Malawi Police Services (MPS) Fiscal and Fraud Department in a joint operation with the Financial Intelligence Authority (FIA), Interpol, and Department of Immigration and Citizenship Services.

Upon arriving in the country with $20 million (about K23.6 billion) as an investor last year, Bilderberg was granted citizenship and a diplomatic passport number MWA097282 was given to him on September 27, 2022.

In a letter dated November 2, 2023, FND Executive Director Fryson Chodzi said they are requesting PAC to establish facts and evidence that led to the Immigration department issuing the passport to Steenkamps.

“We strongly believe there is gloss negligence, improprieties and utter abuse of office on the part of the Director General to allow issuing such a passport, hence the need to investigate from PAC whose mandate include probing public officers for any action undertaken in discharging their duties.

“Madam, may I refer you to our letter dated 2nd December 2022, where we made a similar request when the Department of Immigration issued Diplomatic Passport to foreign nationals, a thing that your committee and even the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) have not investigated to date.

“We are worried that your inaction and failure to address the matter on the Diplomatic Passport has led to continued trends within the immigration.

“We might not be surprised that the two incidents are not isolated, there might be several other foreign individuals who might have been issued passport in similar circumstances.

“The critical questions we must all ask, is the Malawian passport for sale, that a foreign nation who comes to Malawi can just acquire it like that while Malawians are sleeping outside Immigration offices, month and months just to be issued with one? What about the integrity of the Malawian passport, if its access is not restrictive to Malawians citizens both by births or neutralized according to the law?” asked Chodzi

A sworn statement by Bilderberg lawyer Felix Tambulasi shows that Bilderberg (Steenkamp) was welcomed into the country in October last year by government officials through the Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC) to invest in country as a Malawian.

It means Bilderberg (Steenkamp) was granted the citizenship and a local passport before he arrived in the country.

According to a security alert by Mike Bolhuis, Specialized Security Services providers, renowned for Wurban-scam, Bilderberg (Steenkamp) together with his partner Jacobus Johannes Christoffel Du Toit were a financial consultant and the head of an international investment company that promised investors massive returns.
However, the two disappeared with the investments made.
