FDH Bank plc has raised the stakes for the 2025 FDH Bank Cup — injecting a record K250 million into the competition, a staggering K100 million increase from last season’s K150 million sponsorship.

The announcement, made alongside the release of the tournament’s preliminary draw by the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) on Tuesday, has sparked excitement and optimism across all football tiers in the country — from dusty grassroots pitches to elite Super League arenas.

The regional matches will be played between July 5 to 29, 2025 before another draw that will take place in August this year.

He said; “This increase is not just about money; it’s about belief — belief in Malawi’s footballing potential. We’ve seen raw talent, thrilling games, and communities come alive through this tournament. Our increased investment reflects our commitment to grow the game from the ground up.”

In an interview FAM General Secretary Alfred Gunda sent a clap on contentiment to FDH Bank, describing the tremendous increase as a milestone moment for Malawian football.

He said this year’s season would be competitive in regard with the team’s transformation and performances in their respect leagues.

“An increase of this magnitude is unprecedented in recent domestic cup history. It gives us more reason to believe that the FDH Bank Cup is fast becoming the heartbeat of competitive football across all tiers,” said Gunda.
