The Ministry of Education has dismissed reports that it is pondering on introducing fees for primary schools in the country.

On Tuesday the social and traditional media was awash with reports that the Ministry is planning of introducing fees for primary school learners in the country.

But in a brief interview Ministry of Education Spokesperson Chikondi Chimala has dismissed the reports describing them as fake.

“The ministry of Education has no such plans all what I know is there is some NGO that had made such a proposal at some workshop but that has not been discussed at Ministry level,” said Chimala.

The talk of fee introduction in primary school comes barely days after the Parliamentary Committee on Health has proposed on the introduction of user fees in public hospitals to improve service delivery.
