Daggers drawn in second round of the Chipiku Central Region Premier Division

Teams from the central region playing in the second tier league sponsored by Chipiku are from thiw coming weekend expected start battling it out for their spot in the final round of this year’s search for a team to be promoted to the top flight league.

This is after a draw was conducted on Monday at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe where top 12 premier division teams in the region have been drawn in two group of six each.

12 teams in the second round have been drawn into two groups where the top four in the round will play a semi final then the final.

Speaking during the draw, Central Region Football Association General Secretary Bernard Chiwiruwiru Harawa said as an association they are happy as the draw transparent.

Harawa said there will be mouth watering fixtures as teams that are facing each other are rivals in the region.

“Everyone who was here is a witness, we are expecting great entertainment in this round. There are some teams that were in the same group in the previous round and there are some other teams that are rivals based on where they come from. We are happy that we are going to this round”, said Harawa.

The groups are as follows:
Group A

St Gabriel Medicals
Silver Strikers Reserves
Mbadzi United
Airborne Rangers
Villa FC
Wimbe United

Group B
Kamuzu Barracks Reserves
Support Battalion
Ngwanje FC
Kawinga FC
LUANAR FC
Extreme FC

In reaction to the draw, LUANAR FC coach Mirius Pofera Jegwe hailed CRFA for a transparent and fair draw which comprises of good teams.

Jegwe said the draw is a call for teams to be the best by beating the best and LUANAR FC is ready to showcase good football to win games and accumulate more points.

“We have been drawn with good teams and this is the stage where we need to win at all costs. The stakes are now high as we expect high competition from fellow teams. Of course we dream to play in the top flight league but we have to work for it first.” he said.

The fixtures of the second round kick start this Saturday and are as follows:

Group A

Wimbe United vs Villa FC
Airborne Rangers vs Silver Strikers Reserves
St Gabriel Medicals vs Mbadzi United

Group B
Kawinga FC vs LUANAR FC
Ngwanje FC vs Extreme FC
Support Battalion vs Kamuzu Barracks Reserves
