Airtel Africa announced on Monday the results of their nine-month results ending December 31, 2025, which show that the telecommunications company’s customer base grew by 10%. Currently, the mobile service provider has 179.4 million customers in Africa.

The report shows that the company maintained strong operational momentum through ongoing investments in network quality, digitization, and service innovation.

The growth, which has been hugely attributed to its customer-centric strategy, shows that there is a growing demand for Airtel Africa’s services across its markets. Notably, data services experienced significant growth, with data customers rising by 14. 6% to 81. 8 million.

Airtel Africa Chief Executive Officer Sunil Taldar said a key factor in the growth was improved access to smartphones.

Smartphone penetration grew by 3. 3.9 percentage points to 48. 1%, allowing more customers to access digital connectivity and value-added services.

“These results highlight the strength of our strategy, with strong operational and financial trends across the company. This quarter, we accelerated investments to improve coverage and data capacity and expanded our fiber network. By combining this investment with innovative partnerships, we strengthen our customer offering and position ourselves to seize the significant growth potential in our markets.” Said Taldar.

The report also shows that growth was bolstered by ongoing capital investments aimed at enhancing user experience.

Throughout the period, Airtel Africa installed approximately 2, 500 new sites and expanded its fiber network by around 4, 000 kilometers, raising population coverage to 81. 7%.
