Zamm Investments, manufacturers of Cool Drop Natural Mineral Water has said that the technical fault which led to the supply of water that did not meet certain set standards has been fixed.
In a statement signed by marketing and public relations manager Collings Linyenga, the company said it has finalized the process of recalling the affected water batches from the market.
‘We are committed to packaging and supplying high-quality water products that ensure the well-being and safety of consumers.
“Our water is processed using modern and state-of-the-art water purifying equipment in compliance with set Malawi standards. We would like to acknowledge that we had a technical fault at our factory which led to the supply of water that did not meet certain set standards.
“It is worth mentioning that this fault only affected the 500ml bottled water batch numbers 291, 016, and 012 which were detected with white foreign materials. Immediately after this fault was detected, we conducted a comprehensive root-cause analysis and fixed the problem.
“The recall process which was conducted with full knowledge of the Malawi Bureau of Standards (MBS) and also publicized through a Press Release in local newspapers, on 14 February 2024, has since been completed,” he said
However, Linyenda said they are therefore concerned with the publication of a statement by the Competition and Fair-Trading Commission (CFTC) on 19 March 2024 which is warning people against our water.
“We believe that this statement, coming one month after we commenced the recall operation, was rushed and not thoroughly executed. We believe that the CFTC did not consider our efforts to recall the affected batches of water, which is the standard procedure in the event of such eventualities.
“We would like therefore to inform our customers and the general public that we are engaging CFTC and MBS to provide clarification on the matter. Our customers should be assured that all Cool Drop water on the market is safe and has been duly certified so by MBS,” he said
